Use the mouse to pull the tabs to separate them and then click OK to separate them once more. On the General tab, double-click the button "Restore Audio To Top Of Window" and then click OK. The selected audio file will be placed at the location where you saw it, in the exact position as before but with the waveform overlay showing. To see a list of the available formats, click on the corresponding icon in the Audio menu.

 

The last method for how to normalize audio in Audacity is to convert to a loss-less format. To do this, right-click on the track. It will display a menu similar to the one displayed below: Copy As Windows-format. Click on the "OK" button to confirm your decision. The converted file will be saved at the location specified by you, usually at your desktop.
