Tons of Free Internet Security Help with Issues (Part 3)

Protecting Our Children
Making friends from all over the world is one of the most attractive uses of the internet.Visiting the various websites meant to attract kids with fun activities are wonderful ways for our children to learn with some brillant educational sites and great interactive game playing. Sometimes just a place where you can feel safe to sound off about things is a great resource for kids. Teens and some younger children are meeting and talking to others a simple click away on just about every major search site, or on-line service . Always keep in mind that anyone in a public chat may not be who they claim to be. The anonymity of online correspondence makes it easy for people to misrepresent themselves. Be especially cautious if someone invites you to a "private chat". Even if a site claims its a fun site where you can play with "Uncle Bob" and "Aunt Bettie" don't ever give out any personal information. Get any one of hundreds of free email accounts to give if you need to give an e-mail and only give that with a parents consent and permission.

Safe Surf Programs
Software to filter what and where your kids visit, Browser saftey features such as web site rating systems PICS filtering, and even Internet service providers now offer their customers online service blocking features. Take advantage of all theses options for safeties sake. These are tools to help with safety not a replacement for us parents watching and being aware of who what and where are kids are interacting on-line.
PlanetWeb -Planetweb's Parental Control is a comprehensive and easy-to-use Web filtering system for parents who want to control Internet access for their children.
NetNanny -Download a trial version of this site blocking software
Spector 2.0 - Spector 2.0 helps you know what your kids do on the Internet and pc, because it records what they do. This program can be set to record chat, e-mail, applications and keystroke activity. It is not a filter, rather a record of set events.
Three Little Cyberpigs - Download a free interactive privacy game for children. The game's purpose is to teach seven-to-ten-year-old children how to surf safely on the Net, and particularly how to spot and navigate around Internet marketing ploys. For teachers and Parents

( There is another safe surf software program but they use the program for uses not intended by the best programs . They block sites they personally just don't like. I won't list that other well known software here.)

Reporting Internet Crimes where to turn for help
U.S. Customs

We are looking for offenders that possess, trade, distribute and/or produce pictures that visually depict a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Please do not forward these suspected child pornography pictures/images to us as the transmission and/or forwarding of child pornography images is a violation of U.S. Law. Instead, please document the picture's description for us and anything else pertaining to the source (i.e., E-mail address, Internet protocol address, website URL, name and location of chat room, etc). We only investigate based on the limits of the law and the legal definitions of child pornography violations. We do not investigate adult pornography. We are unable to provide you information/feedback on any on-going investigation, however, we keep records of tips that lead to an investigation/arrest/seizure. We investigate sites in other countries and actively work with foreign law enforcement.
We ask that you not intentionally look for child pornography and, in doing so, you may open yourself up to becoming a target. Also, once you enter any websites containing this subject matter, you will be on a "mailing list" of sorts and may start receiving ads and "spams". We, as well as other law enforcement agencies, check chat rooms. We do not shut down sites on the Internet; your Internet service provider (ISP) does.

Thank you again for your interest and dedication. Giving us your tips is the gateway in helping our investigations.

Operation Innocent Images
This is a large-scale investigation, initiated by the Baltimore Division, of child pornography and pedophile activity on the Internet. The primary objective of Innocent Images is to identify and develop prosecutable cases on those individuals who use commercial and private Bulletin Board Systems (BBSs) to recruit minors into illicit sexual relationships or electronically distribute pornographic images of minors, in violation of federal law. The technological, operational, and legal advances made by the FBI in this investigation will benefit the law enforcement community for many years. If you have information about child pornography or other matters on the Internet which you may believe to be illegal, contact the FBI's Baltimore Office at baltimore@fbi.gov.

.National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
The US Customs Service works cooperatively with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) to combat crimes against children. You can report suspicious activity relating to child pornography to the NCMEC "Tipline" ~ 1-800-843-5678 (1-800-BE-ALERT).
